"The journey of a thousand miles begins with a single small step" - Lao Tzu

The journey of our Journal of Conservative Dentistry began in 1998, and in the ensuing years, the journal has grown in leaps and bounds in terms of its scope, reach, and content. From a humble beginning, now we are processing more than 400 articles a year with article submissions coming from more than 25 countries internationally.

Our author- and reader-friendly policy to remain as an open access journal has greatly enhanced the stature of our journal. We are steadily seeing a surge in the both the quality and quantity of articles being submitted to us. A good journal should have a quick turnover time from the date of article acceptance to the date of print. Taking this into consideration, the Editorial Board of J Conserv Dent is pleased to announce that the head office of our Indian Association of Conservative Dentistry and Endodontics has approved our proposal to make Journal of Conservative Dentistry into Bi-Monthly Journal (six issues a year). This would be one more significant milestone in the journey of our journal to be the torchbearer of current international research emanating from our specialty. This change would start from the coming year 2013.

We had earlier mentioned that our online archives are complete from Vol II (1999) till date except for the priceless Vol I (1998) issues. [1] I would like to thank immensely Dr. S. P. Mantri, Professor at Hitkarini Dental College, Jabalpur, for tracing the Vol I issues and sending it to us. Now our heritage is complete and all of us can freely access and download the PDF format of every single article published in our journal from its inception in 1998 till now from our journal website .

Completing our archives and increasing the number of issues from four to six are two more small steps in fulfilling J Conserv Dent's potential of becoming an international journal of substance and repute. Many more steps to go…
