The COVID-19 pandemic has brought life to a standstill wherein humanity and the whole world have suffered in every aspect. The mammoth number of infections and the huge number of fatalities have stunned mankind totally. In this time of crisis, each one's heart goes out to the frontline warriors, namely the health workers who are risking their lives to save ours. The selfless work of the health workers in tackling this pandemic is beyond words, and we at the Journal of Conservative Dentistry (JCD) salute and appreciate their efforts.

The past few months has seen a lot of changes in treatment protocols leading to varied responses as far as the treatment outcomes and prognosis are concerned. We have definitely seen a reduction in fatalities and better treatment management strategies with newer medications and combinations working better. However, still, the virus looms large and all techniques to combat it are being practiced globally. Unfortunately, though the number of infections and fatalities is reducing, a complete eradication of the virus is what we are looking for and has still not happened.

While researchers have been working on new treatment strategies, another dedicated group of researchers have been working in various countries to develop a vaccine to combat this virus giving hope to humanity. This new dawn with the rays of an effective vaccine against COVID-19 comes as silver lining, and we hope that the pandemic comes under control and gets eradicated completely. While most of them have either completed final trials or are still in their last round of trials, all the countries are now gearing up to start a mass immunization program against this virus. We hope that this new dawn brings complete success to all of us.

Coming back to this particular JCD issue, we have the International Endodontic Journal team comprising Prof. Paul Dummer and Prof. Venkatesh Babu writing a guest editorial with the guidelines on how to produce high-quality manuscripts using Preferred Reporting Items for study Designs in Endodontology. I am sure that this article will benefit a lot when we start planning and writing our research.

Besides an interesting mix of case reports and research articles, the Indian Association of Conservative Dentistry and Endodontics has started an 18-month board certification fellowship program in Microrestorative and Endodontics under the aegis of the Indian Board of Microrestorative and Endodontics. This issue features a special article on this fellowship program written jointly by the course mentors which brings out the course details and expected outcomes for the students planning to do this fellowship program.

We acknowledge and thank all our reviewers who are helping us to get the articles processed within record time so that the journal issues get published well in time. It has been our endeavor to publish the latest research happenings in the field of Conservative Dentistry, Restorative dentistry, Endodontics, and Dental materials. We also look forward for your feedback as well as suggestions to try and improve the Journal. With best regards.

Editorially yours,
