It is with an immense sense of grief that we share the loss of Dr. Ravi Kapur, a distinguished academician, clinician, and a teacher par excellence. His passing away has created a huge irreparable loss not only to his family but also to all his students, friends, and members of our fraternity.
Dr. Ravi Kapur was born on 29 th December of 1953 in Delhi where he did his schooling, obtaining his graduation from D. A. V. College and was conferred with the best graduate student award. He obtained his master's degree in conservative dentistry and endodontics from Punjab Government Dental College and Hospital, Amritsar where he excelled equally.

As an academician, his most significant contribution to Indian endodontics during his 36 years of teaching was in the creation of highly motivated teachers out of his students. He strived to maintain the highest standard of ethical dental practice, which he also inculcated in his students. His desire and success in befriending, mentoring, and guiding his students are worth emulating.
Dr. Kapur's excellent administrative credentials earned him both National and International acclaim. He was the first elected member of D. C. I. from the state of Punjab. He has also served as the National President of Federation of Operative Dentistry of India, the Indian Endodontic Society and also as the president of Indian Dental Association of Punjab State. He had also held the position of being the youngest member Senate of Guru Nanak Dev University. Dr. Ravi had a profound interest in continuing education programs and hands - on workshops since 1985. He also has numerous lectures and clinical demonstrations on single visit root canal therapy, rotary endodontics, and esthetic dentistry to his credit.
At the International front, he received appreciation at the 31 st Triennial Commonwealth Dental Conference. In 2003, he was appointed as the consulting editor of the contemporary "WHO is WHO" (an international forum) and was conferred Fellow of International College of Dentists.
