The textbook of endodontics by Dr. Ramya Raghu and Dr. Raghu Srinivasan is excellent for students as well as clinicians. The book is well organized and readable with useful information compiled meticulously. It is a perfect amalgamation of the theory and practice of endodontics. The authors have presented an unbiased up-to-date review of research in the clinical practice of endodontics. The textbook would be of much value to any clinician as a ready reference. The book is well organized and profusely illustrated, encompassing all aspects of endodontics, keeping in mind the syllabus prescribed by many universities in India.

The initial chapters follow a logical pattern dealing with the pulp and periapex in health and disease. Chapters 6–12 expound the rationale of endodontics and basic concepts relevant to the subject. The next few chapters deal at length with important endodontic treatment procedures such as cleaning and shaping, obturation, and surgery. Further, in Chapter 21–28, topics such as endodontic emergencies, postendodontic restorations, and single visit endodontics have been dealt with in detail to round off the knowledge of the reader.

The textbook is well illustrated with eye-catching color diagrams and apt explanations, which enable the student and the clinician achieve success with greater certainty. Apart from clinical photographs and radiographs, the book also has good photomicrographs wherever necessary.

An interesting feature which makes this textbook easy to read is the presentation of important points highlighted in color “boxes.” Self-assessment questions at the end of each chapter have been selected from old question papers of various universities in India for the last 5 years. The neophyte student and the practitioner will surely benefit from the practical tips and suggestions given by the authors.

This is a well-written, informative, and comprehensive textbook of immense value to anyone involved with clinical endodontics. This book should definitely be on the shelves of those who practice endodontics routinely. For the student, its simple style may prove to be an excellent Bible to learn and practice endodontics. This textbook is an up-to-date reference book for students and teachers in the specialty.
