The 14 th IACDE/IES PG Convention under the aegis of Indian association of Conservative Dentistry and Endodontics (IACDE) and Indian Endodontic Society (IES) was held at SDM College of Dental Sciences & Hospital, Dharwad from 7 th - 9 th June 2013. The was a successful commemoration of the research work done by the postgraduates in the field of Conservative Dentistry and Endodontics.

The convention was well attended with participation of more than 1200 delegates from different parts of India. Dr. D. Veerendra Heggade Kalakshetra with its state of art auditorium made a mark on the delegates.

On 7 th June, workshop was conducted in association with the Karnataka State Dental Council where Dr. Shivakumar F. Kumbar spoke on medico-legal issues in dentistry, Dr. Hemalatha Hiremath discussed regarding the infection control and Dr. Geeta S. Hiremath elaborated on the waste management in dental office.

On the same day, five pre-convention courses were conducted at Hotel Kamat Yatri Nivas including Waveone and Laser by Dr. T. Arun Kulandaivelu, Rotary endodontics with Hyflex-CM by Dr. Jayshree Hegde, Advanced Protaper by Dr. V. Gopikrishna, Smile Design by Dr. B. Mohan and Regenerative Endodontics by Dr. Sai Kalyan and Dr. K.Z. Imran.

The convention was inaugurated by Dr. K.V. Raghavan, INAE distinguished professor & ex-director CSIR-IICT on 8 th June at 9.30 am. The function was presided by Shri. Dr. D.Veerendra Heggade, President, SDME Society, Ujire; Dr. Dibyendu Mazumder, President, DCI was the Guest of Honour.

An exhibition of dental products represented by more than 30 reputed companies was an integral part of the convention.

The convention was a major scientific event that brought together some of the eminent speakers including Dr. K.V. Raghavan, Dr. Dibyendu Mazumder, Dr. A.P. Tikku, Dr. Absar Ahmad, Dr. K. Ranganathan, Dr. K.H. Kidiyoor, Dr. V. Gopikrishna, Dr. Narasimhan Bharadwaj, Dr. Vasudev Ballal, Dr. Dharam Hinduja, Dr. Vibha Hegde, Dr. Sophia Thakur and Dr. Marina Fernandes. Around 305 student papers, 11 staff papers and 305 student posters were presented during the convention which was chaired by chairpersons across India.

A grand gala banquet was arranged on 8 th June at Cotton County Club, Hubli with variety entertainment.

This three day scientific extravaganza turned out to be an ideal platform for the postgraduate students to express their views and ideas along with providing an opportunity to imbibe knowledge from the eminent guest speakers.
