Dental clinical research is an important phase of research to improve the oral health of society at large. Clinical research programs provide insight to the budding dental researchers to imbibe the methods, strategies, and other aspects of research from the experienced and share their own research experience in the open forum. This conference brought together various educators, researchers, and students, creating an opportunity to share the state of the art advances related to research and to the contemporary practice of Conservative Dentistry and Endodontics. The main mission of this conference was to support and intensity research among students and professionals.

We are happy to place on record the success of First International event from the Endodontics and Conservative dentistry CLInical RESearch (ECCLIRES) team at Hotel Accord Metropolitan, Chennai. Encouraged by enthusiasm and interest shown by the active participants of 2014, we have successfully completed the 1 st International and 4 th National ECCLIRES 2015 on 29 th and 30 th of August under the banner of Indian Association of Conservative Dentistry and Endodontics (IACDE). There were delegates and students representing various colleges from all over the country. The Chief Guest for ECCLIRES 2015 was Dr. V. Kanagasabai, Registrar, Bharath University, who elaborated on the importance of clinical research and the generous contribution of Bharath University for clinical research. Dr. V. G. Sukumaran, Chairman, organizing committee welcomed the gathering, and Dr. L. Lakshminaryanan, Hon, General Secretary, IACDE, who graced the occasion spoke on need for encouraging more and more clinical research in all the institutions of the country.

The invited lectures were delivered by Dr. Pavel Cherkas, Assistant Professor, Discipline of Endodontics, University of Toronto, and Dr. M. Nivedhitha, Professor and Head, Department of Conservative dentistry and Endodontics, Saveetha University. Through live video conferencing, he enlightened the delegates on pain management in endodontics. He highlighted the mechanism of pain, causes of pain, theories of pain, local anesthetics used during the treatment, and management of endodontic pain. He also highlighted about the management of "Hot tooth" and the medications that can be given preoperatively and postoperatively. The lecture extended for more than 2½ h, and there was a separate interactive session in which Dr. Pavel Cherkas answered the questions put forth by the delegates, as well as the post graduate students.

Dr. M. Nivedhitha spoke on the ways of conducting the questionnaire survey. She highlighted the importance of survey research, types of survey, and how to conduct a questionnaire survey in a simple manner. This would definitely kindle the interests of postgraduate students, as well as delegates to initiate one.

Dr. R. Mensudar, Dr. V. Prakash, Dr. A. Karthick were in charge of the scientific committee, which handled the increase in a number of papers presented. A total number of 60 papers were presented. There was an increase in the number and quality of papers presented with more papers on "Randomized Control Trials." The trend of increased papers on Randomized Control Trials was encouraging as the aim of ECCLIRES was to motivate our researchers to take up more clinical trials.
