26 th FODI and 19 th IES National Conference under the aegis of Federation of Operative Dentistry of India (FODI) and Indian Endodontic Society(IES) was held at Manekshaw Centre, New Delhi from 11 th - 13 th Nov. 2011. The FODI and IES Conferences enjoy worldwide recognition as an outstanding, high level forum for Endodontist and Conservative Dentist in the Asia Pacific region. The 2011 Delhi Conference was a joyful commemoration of the FODI and IES achievements since last 26 years. The presentations were focused on giving a different perspectives on key current issues based on the Conference Theme, which was "Restore the Natural". The conference had participation of more than 1600 delegates from different parts of India and around the globe.
Manekshaw Convention Centre with state of art auditoriums and air conditioned exhibition area surely made a mark on the delegates. The conference was inaugurated by Sh. Sam Pitroda, Chairman, National Knowledge commission, Govt. of India. In his speech, he emphasized that the Dental Sector should be more organized and should look forward to serve people living in rural areas. An e-souvenir in the form of a dvd was released for the first time ever. It was presented by Vice-chancellor of Manav Rachna University to the chief guest. Dr D Mazumder, President, DCI was the Guest of Honor. An exhibition of high-impact dental products that was represented by more than 50 reputed companies and was inaugurated by Lt. Gen. S. Murli Mohan and Dr Mahesh Verma.
This conference was a major scientific event and brought together some of the most eminent international speakers including Dr. PNR Nair, Dr. Peter Murray, Dr Paul Abbott, Dr. Meetu Kohli, Dr. Jeffry Coil, Dr. Adrian Yap, Dr. Sergio Kuttler and Dr Thomas Davis. There were a number of National Keynote speakers including Dr Kandaswamy, Dr Naseem Shah, Dr A P Tikku, Dr Vimal Sikri, Dr Arvind Shenoy, Dr Rajkumar, Dr Gopi Krishna, Dr Vivek Hegde and others. The speakers shared their insights and interesting case studies from their respective fields and highlighted the significance of innovation and how it can be incorporated in our practices.
300 student papers were held on 10 th Nov2011 at Faculty of Dentistry, Jamia Millia Islamia, New Delhi. 8 Pre Conference courses by eminent National and International faculty were also held at CDER, AIIMS and at Dental Centre, R and R Hospital on 10 th Nov, 2011.
The three day conference turned out to be an ideal platform for bringing about the positive change with leaders from so many different locations coming together, expressing views and ideas and also helping each other make a difference in the way we look at dentistry.
